How many of the best restaurants have you eaten at?

We were lucky enough to attend the recent National Restaurant Awards at The Hurlingham Club on 11 June where the 100 Best Restaurants were announced. Take a look at the full list and see how many you’ve eaten at!

Director of Hospitality Recruitment at The Change Group, Tom Hutchinson and Business Development Manager, Sarah Brooks, share their best bits:

What was your highlight of the evening and why?

Tom: Just generally soaking up the atmosphere, meeting so many amazing people especially Pierre Koffman and Raymond Blanc.

Sarah: Meeting and having a drink with Raymond Blanc after he won the ‘Lifetime Achievement Award’. Also trying all the cheeses and goods from Harvey Brockless; the honey with truffle was amazing.

Were there any restaurants you were surprised not to see on the list?

Tom: The Ninth by Jun Tanaka

Sarah: It would have been nice for Morito to make the list again this year.

What was the most exciting new entry on the list?

Tom: Sabor in at number 2, I have eaten there, and it is amazing! I got to meet the owner, Nieves Barragan, who is lovely and also won ‘Chef of the Year’.

Sarah: Sabor Restaurant was the highest new entry, it seemed everyone was happy to see it placed at number 2, a well-deserved win.

Based on the 2018 best 100 restaurant list, what is your favourite and why?

Tom: Sabor – I used to live in Spain and this restaurant has some of the best Spanish food you can get in London.

Sarah: Lima, it’s one of my favourite restaurants.

What restaurant are you most excited to try?

Tom: The Sportsman in Kent – If I can get a table; it’s booked up at the weekends until November!

Sarah: A Wong as I love Dim Sum and Hoppers having recently visited Sri Lanka it would be nice to see the UK take on their cuisine.
