New Restaurant Openings in London

A quieter month than normal on the new opening scene in London, perhaps this is due to the dire chef shortage the Capital is experiencing or perhaps everyone is just off enjoying the summer… who knows?

One things for sure, the new openings are all equally impressive in their own right and will be great additions to the London foodie scene. Try one, try them all… we certainly intend too!

Neo Bistro

Alex Harper (previously from The Harwood Arms) and Mark Jarvis (previously from Anglo) have teamed up to launch a modern British style bistro with a focus on seasonal produce. With two incredible chefs behind it, this is one not to be missed!

Calcutta Street Brixton

Based on Calcutta’s vibey Park Street you’ll find a mixture of street food, small plates and mains. Get lost in their delicious cocktail menu as you soak up the atmosphere created by the eclectic décor in Brixton’s newest addition.

Sibarita

Restaurateur and chef Victor Garvey partners with his father to create what he describes as “the kind of laid-back wine and cheese joint we like to go to ourselves.” We love seeing chefs’ dreams come true and we wish this Father-Son duo all the success. We can’t wait to pop in for a glass of vino and some nibbles.

Dickie’s Bar

Richard Corrigan in collaboration with Gregory Buda bring us the latest hotspot in Mayfair, Dickie’s Bar – a late night cocktail bar. In keeping with Richard’s love for seasonal ingredients (often sources from his very own garden and farm), you can expect inspired drinks, all made with the sophistication and elegance in mind.

Señor Ceviche

Peruvian food has well and truly taken London by storm which explains why Señor Ceviche opens its second site on the ever-popular Charlotte Street. We’re looking forward to trying their newly launch bottomless brunch, as well as, the Nikkei and Chifa style dishes which reflect the Japanese and Chinese influence to the region. Of course, there will be the normal Peruvian culprits on the menu including an array of ceviche and Pachamanca pork ribs.

New Restaurant & Bar Openings April 2017

The London foodie scene has had another busy month with nearly 20 new restaurants and bars opening in April. Fancy drinking cocktails in a cell or eating a prawn on the lawn? As always, London has it all!

It’s great to see some good old favourites popping up in different areas including Patty & Bun in Nottinghill and The Refinery New Street Square (another Drake & Morgan venture and sister site to Refinery CityPoint).

We’re loving the quirkily named Trawler Trash for its focus on seasonal British produce and less well-known fish – we’re always up for trying new and different ingredients. In fact, it seems that seasonal ingredients and the support of British produce is a trend we are seeing a lot of at the moment.

7 other trends set to dominate the London foodie scene in 2017:

Whether it’s a Mexican taco or a serving of Peruvian ceviche, authenticity is the name of the game this year.

Smoothies, exotic juices, homemade lemonades and bizarre hot drink flavours are set to hit menus in the Capital. We’ve already seen the rise of flavoured coffees such as beetroot and charcoal lattes and of course, the much loved, rainbow and unicorn inspired drinks.

Already a trend we are seeing a lot of, particularly with vegetables taking centre stage on the plate rather than featuring as a side, we expect this trend to expand and also accommodate more dietary requirements such as gluten, dairy and sugar free.

Nose to tail cooking and using every element of an ingredient to minimise waste has long been a trend in the hospitality industry and we don’t expect it to change any time soon (for good reason too). We also expect to see fermented vegetables to take centre stage in 2017 with things like kimchi receiving a lot of love.

A lot more thought is now being given to the visual appeal of food as diners look to share photos of their experiences on social media. Everyone say CHEEEEESE!

New Restaurant & Bar Openings March 2017

El Vino

This family-owned wine merchant adds another wine bar and shop to its lot. Offering Spanish-influenced dishes and a wide array of wines which customers can buy and drink right there and then, this is a great place to try on your way home from work.

Chi Kitchen’s Laksa Bar

A slightly different twist on the normal Chi Kitchen’s as you’ll find a Malaysian broth bar inside this Pan-Asian restaurant. Brainchild of Master Chef winner Ping Coombes, this is the perfect place to sit back and relax after a long session of shopping and watch the food take shape.

Number 177

Is it possible for a venue to have it all? Number 177 is giving it a good go offering a bar, restaurant, club room, art exhibition, DJ and other musician appearances… there is even a florescent orange photo booth! We have no doubt this will become the new Hoxton hot spot!

The Cheese Bar

From cheese truck vendor to a more permanent location in Camden, The Cheese Bar will be cooking up many of its old classics with the addition of a few new melted treats. One thing we love about this new venture (besides the fact that it’s dripping in cheesy goodness) is the focus on locally produced cheeses, many of which come from within the M25.

Hawksmoor Borough

If you’re looking for the perfect steak in London, Hawksmoor has always been the place to go and their new site in Borough is no different. Offering up every cut of meat imaginable you’ll be hard pressed to decide what to order! Set in the heart of the market with an elegant reclaimed décor, this is the perfect place for you next business meeting or lunch with friends.

Rail House Cafe

Situated in the new Nova glass extravaganza in Victoria, the Rail House Café has something for everyone. With seating for over 300 covers and an all-day dining menu, you can use any excuse to visit. Breakfasts include modern twists on old classics, the lunch menu is perfect for those who enjoy sharing and the dinner menu has a varied feel with ceviche on one end and truffled mac & cheese on the other. If you’ve tried Riding House Cafe or Village East, Rail House Café is part of the same group and won’t disappoint.

New Bar & Restaurant Openings in February 2017

As always, we bring you the latest restaurant and bar openings in London, keeping you up to speed on what’s hot and happening. From flavours from the banks of the Caspian to restaurants paying homage to cafes in Tel Aviv, there’s no doubt there’s lots to choose from if you are a foodie looking for your next fix.

Six Storeys

Inspired by the Prohibition era, this English bar and restaurant offers what the name suggests, six storeys, each with its own bit of English flair. With the capacity for 300 guests, this is a great events space but equally good if you just fancy stopping by to see what it’s all about.

Jan

Inspired by the golden ages of the Ottoman Empire and the Persian Dynasties, Jan brings us some magnificent dishes, many of which have a Middle Eastern influence. We love that the menu is short, sweet and to the point. Choose from small plates, breads and sides and of course their charcoal menu – perfect for those who enjoy sharing.

Kricket

What was an Indian pop-up in Brixton now becomes a more permanent fixture in Soho. Set over two floors, you can enjoy intimate dining with lots of unusual India inspired cuisine to choose from. And if your heart desires, nip into their bar for a cocktail that too highlights flavours of India with many of the cocktails including ingredients like coriander, turmeric, cardamom bitters and cashew milk (not all in one drink of course).

Plot

A family venture of two cousins brings us Plot and straight off the bat we have to say we love their local ethos. With a lot of restaurants talking about supporting British produce, these lot are actually doing it. Serving up seasonal British small plates in Tooting Bec, Plot is definitely worth a visit if you find yourself in South West London.

Maison Kayser

First things first, hats off for opening a bakery on Baker Street what a great coincidence! Maison Kayser now have over 100 bakeries across the world so there is no denying they know what they are doing. Whether you are looking to buy a quick loaf of bread or you’d like to take a seat in their 60 cover restaurant, make sure you get your buns down there.

Ralph’s Coffee & Bar

As the name suggests, Ralph Lauren has opened up a coffee shop and bar in Regent’s Street. With an equestrian theme that oozes with elegance, this is the perfect place to take a break during a tiring shopping spree!

Bunga Bunga

For anyone who has enjoyed an evening at the Battersea branch of Bunga Bunga, you will know that is it never without a lot of delicious food, cocktails and fun and we are sure that the Covent Garden opening will be no different. This is the perfect place if you are looking for a bit of live music with your meal and an atmosphere that will keep you dancing until the wee hours of the morning. Thanks to Bunga Bunga, chef jobs in London just got a little more musical!

Bala Baya

Offering up authentic Middle Eastern cuisine this new opening in Southwalk is designed to mirror the atmosphere of the bustlings cafes in Tel Aviv. Morning, afternoon or night, you’ll find Bala Baya open and ready to meet your cravings with a bakery for breakfast, a grab-and-go pita kiosk during lunchtime and a restaurant in the evenings.

The Modern Pantry’s Alpha Beta Bar

A fabulous addition to the Modern Pantry in Finsbury Square and a much needed watering hole in this area. Expect classy cocktails accompanied by tapas style dishes – perfect for an after work soirée.

Lao Café

Don’t be fooled into thinking that all Asian food tastes the same! Lao Café is the perfect example of how false this is. With a communal dining feel, Lao Café serves everything from grilled meats, stir-fry, curries, salads and hot pots – all with bold sauces and flavours.

Duck Duck Goose

This 24 cover restaurant is tucked away in Pop Brixton but what it lacks in size it makes up for in flavour! Duck Duck Goose is serving up Hong Kong-style Cantonese BBQ food, namely pork, duck and goose.

Bobby Fitzpatrick

If you’re in the mood for a bit of 70s nostalgia then you can’t go wrong with this one. Let Bobby Fitzpatrick take you back in time with their retro wallpaper, shaggy carpets and 70s house party feel while you enjoy a pizza and some rum-centric cocktails.

Miusan

Ever wondered what it would be like to live in the 1940s and frequent an opium den in New York or Paris? Well wonder no more, sort of… Miusan offers pan-Asian cuisine in an opulent environment and hopes to help you escape from everyday reality. Sounds interesting to us!

Ferdi

A little piece of Paris comes to London and we couldn’t be happier. Ferdi has the feel of a traditional French bistro but with a palpable difference, perhaps it’s the quirky décor or the extraordinary food, we’re not quite sure but we know it’s not to be missed.

Greenwood

ETM brings us a pub with a 70s twist. Enjoy a pint and some live sport in this eclectic space. It certainly isn’t like any other pub we’ve seen before.

La Dame de Pic

With 3 Michelin Stars under her belt, Anne Sophie Pic brings us a French brasserie style restaurant in the Four Seasons Hotel at Ten Trinity Square. Everything about La Dame de Pic oozes elegance and we can’t wait to experience the results of hospitality recruitment at its finest.

Baluchi at The Lalit Hotel

And from one hotel to another, we take you to Baluchi at the Lalit Hotel. This Indian new opening has a few special surprises up its sleeve including a naanery (we didn’t realise such a thing existed) artisan bread is made using a tandoor which is then paired with wine.

Exmouth Market Grind

The Grind family expands by one bringing us an all-day café and cocktail bar. Whether you are looking for breakfast, brunch, small plates or a more traditional menu, Exmouth Market Grind has it all covered.

Sshhhh don’t tell anyone but…

Our beloved Naughty Piglets is opening their second venture – The other naughty piglets! Opening on Monday 13th February, you can get yourself 50% off the food. Restaurant & Bar Openings November 2015

We always try to bring you the latest in restaurant and bar openings in London but this month is particularly special.

We’ve had the pleasure of working with celebrity chef Jun Tanaka as he prepared for the opening of his first solo venture, The Ninth. Although most of our involvement was behind the scenes, sourcing talent for his chef jobs and front of house jobs, we recently visited Jun and his new team and were blown away by the depth of flavours, great service and stylish interior at The Ninth. The team have worked tirelessly to come up with a concept that is different to anything else in London and we really think they’ve achieved it.

Here’s everything you need to know about Fitzrovia’s hottest new restaurant The Ninth

Located on the ever popular Charlotte Street, Jun Tanaka has created a sharing style menu with French Mediterranean-style cuisine. The a la carte menu has a strong seasonal ingredient focus and although the dishes are bold in flavour, Jun’s food is light with lots of seafood and vegetables options.
