Summer of Sport
If you love sport then you’re going to revel in what’s instore for you in the next month or so (heads up – there’s likely to be a wave of opportunities for temp chef jobs in London & beyond)…
Queen’s Club – 13th June to 19th June
The first bit of sporting action to be served up this week is the classy tennis tournament Queen’s Club. If queueing for tickets isn’t really your thing, you’ll love Queen’s as you can easily buy tickets online and get to see some of the greatest players in a very intimate court setting. If this tickles your fancy, get down to Baron’s Court, grab your strawberries and cream, a glass of bubbly and enjoy!
Royal Ascot – 14th June to 18th June
By far Britain’s most valuable race meeting with prize money of £6.58milllion up for grabs, you’re sure to see the world’s finest racehorses going head to head. Ascot is the perfect place to enjoy a day of glamour, rub shoulders with the rich and famous and people-watch until your heart’s content.
US Open – 16th June to 19th June
Unless you’re lucky enough to be hopping across the pond to catch the US Open live, we’re sure you’ll be following all the action on your telly or down at your local. In its 116th year the US Open will be played at the prestigious Oakmont Country Club in Plum, Pennsylvania and we can’t wait to see the outcome!
Rugby Union – 18th June, 25th June
With one set of matches under the belt and a few upsets evolving from those results, catch the rest of the action in the upcoming games. Will South Africa make a comeback against Ireland and can England maintain their winning streak against the Aussies? No doubt you’ll be glued to your screens for all eight games if you’re a rugby fan.
Cricket England v Sri Lanka one-day internationals – 21st June, 24th June, 26th June, 29th June and 2nd July
After England’s victory in the Test Series, can they repeat this performance in the one-day series which begins on the 21st June? As the boys tour the UK, why not get your hands on a couple tickets and enjoy some live cricket coverage.
British Athletics Championships & Olympic Trials, Birmingham – 24th June to 26th June
The best of British athletes will come together in Birmingham at the Alexander Stadium to compete to be crowned British Champion and to win a place at The Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro. There’s still time to book tickets for this event but if you can’t make it across the country to watch these athletes take part live, you can always view the coverage from the comfort of your own home.
Boxing- Anthony Joshua v Dominic Breazeale (IBF world heavyweight title fight), London – 25th June
Anthony Joshua is fast becoming England’s latest boxing superstar. Tune in to see him defend his IBF world heavyweight title against undefeated American boxer Dominic Breazeale at The O2. If you’re lucky enough to bag yourself tickets on fight night, we are green with envy. If not, it might be worth catching the fight in a pub so you can avoid the additional charges on your own screen.
Wimbledon – 27th June to 10th July
And last but not least, by far our favourite sporting event each year, Wimbledon Tennis Championship. Honestly what’s not to love about Wimbledon, from the strawberries and cream on Henman Hill (or Murray Mound if you prefer) to the beautifully manicured flower boxes, this the most quintessentially English day out. Oh and we forgot to mention, the tennis is pretty great too. Whether you choose to wake up at the crack of dawn and join the famous queue through Wimbledon Park or you have won tickets in the annual ballot, it really doesn’t matter as you are sure to see some great tennis and enjoy an atmosphere unlike any other.
