We’re back to kick off British Springtime with a list of amazing new restaurants you need to check out in London:
Chef Heinz Beck is steering away from his three Michelin star setting to bring a more casual dining experience to this new Italian restaurant in London. This new spot will be situated in Browns Hotel in the heart of Mayfair. Brown’s is commonly associated with elegance, but Beck insists this restaurant will have a more relaxed dining vibe in comparison to Rome’s La Pergola. The menu still has the Michelin starred wow factor with dishes such as Taglioniall’astice with smoked aubergine cream & chilli and Grilled black cod with ‘Nduja crust, red peppers & cucumber being featured.
Already established in Bristol and Spain, Wellbourne Brasserie is now setting up shop in White City London. The Bistro is being headed up by Ross Gibbens (former head chef of Dabbous) and Michael Kennedy (Senior sous chef of Dabbous) so you can expect a mouth-watering menu with options like homemade crumpets with hot smoked mackerel.
Hotel Russell has had a makeover by the Principal Hotel Group (although they’re keeping signature features such as the lucky dragon on the staircase). The transition includes new restaurant Neptune which is being brought to you by Brett Redman and Margaret Crow, the creators of former Gastro pub Richmond in Hackney, There is also going to be four other areas where you can dine away; Fitz (the glamorous bar), Burr & Co. (coffee bar in the morning, wine bar in the evening) and Palm Court (your perfect afternoon tea spot).
Soren Jessen, the man behind Italian restaurant 1 Lombard St is going back to his Nordic roots with new his new city opening, Ekte Nordic Kitchen which will be serving up dishes such as Seared pepper venison with preserved plums, apple pistachio, and almond. For the morning folk, there are also tasty Scandinavian pastries to indulge in.
Already an international sensation, Din Tai Fung are bringing their tasty xiaolongbao buns (steamed soup dumplings) to London town! You can expect this Taiwanese opening to be a massive hit when it opens, but don’t let the queues put you off the delectable wontons and noodle soup!
If you’re looking for a trip down memory lane this new retro spot may be the perfect place to check out. They’ll be offering a throwback British menu including 60s themed foods such as; cauliflower cheese croquettes and of course… banana splits. The restaurant will be based on a bridge overlooking Oxford St, so it’ll be the perfect place to head too when you need to dip out of the shopping crowds.
We hope these Singapore Curry Puff connoisseurs are well prepared for their UK return, particularly after their Kentish Town pop up sold out every day in less than four hours! You’ll be able to get your hands on their signature puffs and chicken curry at their new permanent home in Covent Garden very soon!
