The clocks have gone back and we're well into Autumn so if you're looking for somewhere to shelter from the cold, have a squizz at some fantastic London restaurants who have opened their doors this month…


Vibrant, sensory and un-fussy, their menu focuses on quality ingredients treated well, and are populated with affordable options to the more indulgent.

The venue, in the heart of Soho, will offer breakfast for the early-risers; coffee and cake for elevenses; brunch and lunch; pre-theatre and late-evening dining and drinking. Something for everyone!

Focusing on plant-based cookery, Head Chef Greg Hillier, has created an impressive selection ranging from shared grazing plates, to large mains for a more formal dining experience. Alongside the à la carte menu, a pre-theatre fixed price menu is available online with the purchase of a ticket. Each new main house show will provide inspiration for their ever-changing menus.

The stylishly designed drinks list promotes top-quality local suppliers and artisan producers. There are some unusual and unconventional offerings with Fin Spiteri creating and curating an extensive cocktail list.

The Lost Alhambra

Adding to the already very instagrammable Adventure Bar’s collection, the team behind Tonight Josephine, Bar Elba and Blame Gloria have just opened their newest jaunt in Leicester Square and we are thrilled.

The neon signs, mirrored walls as well as psychedelic ceilings and floors at The Lost Alhambra make for a phantasmagoria experience, even without indulging in any of their delicious cocktails. If you’re taken back by the décor then you’ll not be disappointed by the array of cocktails too. If you’re feeling a bit peckish, the sliders, hot wings and chicken salt fries look pretty moreish too!

Top Cocktails:

  • Pisco Inferno - served in a disco ball and made with peach liqueur, passionfruit, vanilla and ginger ale
  • Love Potion No. 10 - tangy but balanced coupe consisting of Beefeater Pink gin, strawberry jam, fresh lemon juice, pineapple syrup and prosecco
  • Lemongrass Collins – thirst-quenching, fresh lemongrass-infused Eristoff vodka, Licor 43, fresh lemon juice, ginger beer, vanilla (with chilli available upon request – hell yeah!)

Michelin-starred Chef Peter Sanchez-Iglesias merges the Spanish cuisine of his family with his love of Mexico for his debut London restaurant, Decimo, which opened on the 10th October and is The Standard's flagship restaurant.

Expect lots of flavour - aguachile (Mexican ceviche), meat and seafood cooked over open fire, suckling pig shoulder, vegan paella and a new take on tacos with a dramatically different tortilla. Did we mention there’ll also be a caviar-topped tortilla (£40 with 25g of caviar) – we’re impressed!

Accessible via its own special lift - with an entrance direct from Euston Road - Decimo is situated on the 10th floor and is uniquely positioned with floor-to-ceiling windows and dramatic views across the London skyline. Open for dinner and featuring a full Chef’s tasting menu and a late night-menu - Decimo is open until 3am Thursday through to Saturday with their drinks menu influenced from Spain and Latin America.

Lyon’s Seafood & Wine Bar

A sustainable seafood restaurant and wine bar (Lyon’s) has recently opened its doors in Crouch End and we’re looking forward to their ever-changing menu which features fresh, seasonal produce as well as seafood from the British Isles.

Anthony Lyon is the main man in charge (and whose name the restaurant bears) – his previous 20+ years experience includes running front of house at places like The Wolseley, Hix and Colbert. He's brought in Head Chef, Talia Prince (Le Gavroche, Fat Duck) and award-winning Sommelier Kelvin McCabe who was Group Head Sommelier UK for Yauatcha, and Head Sommelier of ZUMA and ROKA.

Top Dishes:

  • Cured salmon, fennel, ponzu
  • Buttermilk cod cheeks, rouille
  • Barley risotto with celeriac, hazelnuts and bone marrow
  • Braised beef, rosemary, parmesan polenta
  • Stone bass with cashew & celeriac mash

Although Lyon’s is a seafood restaurant, the menu will feature a meat dish every day and a good amount of vegetarian and/or vegan dishes, so keep an eye on their Instagram for updates on their daily dish selection.

They’ll be room for 46 diners as well as some space up at the bar or window for counter dining.
