We have some fabulous new places to whet the appetite for all you food-lovers out there! Read on below to find out the latest restaurants, bars, brasseries & more that opened their doors in July 2019…
Humble Grape is an independent collection of wine bars in London with event spaces in Battersea, Fleet Street, Islington, Liverpool Street & most recently Canary Wharf. They import artisan wines direct from sustainable, family-run vineyards, sell wine online for delivery across the UK, and host monthly wine tastings and private events. Their latest opening, just last week, on Mackenzie Walk boasts a stunning terrace and a wine list of over 30 wines by the glass, which they’ll be rotating frequently. They’ll be open all day, with breakfast from 07h30 and running through to dinner in the evening.
Location: 18-20 Mackenzie Walk, London E14 4PH
Flor, a wine bar, bakery and restaurant from the team behind Lyle’s, opened its doors in Borough less than 2 weeks ago and we couldn’t be more excited! Lyle’s is currently at no. 38 on the list of the World’s 50 Best Restaurants so we have high hopes for Flor. The two-floor space will boast a bakery counter where one can take a seat or head upstairs for banquette seating and a lunch menu that changes daily.
Top Dishes (not necessarily on the menu daily though):
Location: 1 Bedale St, London SE1 9AL
On the site of what was once a grand British estate now lays the beating heart of Mayfair and its myriad of art galleries, high-fashion and businesses. Explore a small part of Mayfair’s history at the newly opened, Moncks of Dover St. The name is a nod to the seventeenth century Lord, Christopher Monck, who was a local legend, a politician, a treasure hunter and an innovator and the final owner of Clarendon Estate, a palatial residence. Open seven days a week and serving from early morning until late, you can explore their breakfast, all-day and weekend brunch menus, all of which are time-honoured classic dishes using the finest produce, so that something seemingly simple is satisfying and delicious. Don’t delay and book your table now as we think this will quickly become a firm favourite London hotspot.
Location: 33 Dover Street, Mayfair, London W1S 4NF
Mayfair isn’t ordinarily an area you’d head to if you were after a budget meal, but Stampa, a new pasta spot which serves up fresh pasta, paninis and the like, aims to change all of that. This Italian diner will have banquette seating for 20 people and will serve up homemade pasta (for as little as £6.50 a dish or a 3-course set menu option for just £22) which you can enjoy with a cocktail, wine or bubbles.
Location: 61 Davies St, London W1K 5SQ
Taking over an old Pizza Express site, Flat Iron has recently opened its seventh restaurant in Spitalfields – with talk of them opening an eighth in the not too distant future. Exciting stuff! Their ethos is all based around affordable and delicious steak for about £10 – usually their flat iron cut – where you can add fries/sides/sauces. But don’t fret, if flat iron isn’t your preferred cut of meat, you’ll be tantalised with the others they have on offer.
Location: 88-90 Commercial Street, London E1 6LY
