August is always slightly quieter for the London restaurant world however, that doesn’t mean to say we haven’t had some exciting new openings to look forward to! Here’s a roundup of the latest cafés, gastropubs and restaurants opening their London doors this month.

Eggslut

Eggslut, a gourmet food concept, champions the use of eggs beyond breakfast. A popular hot-spot in the West Coast of the USA has finally made its way across to the UK, and will open its first restaurant in Notting Hill this month. The menu features a selection of egg-filled sandwiches and specialities, with dishes made fresh to order. We have to say we are quite egg-static about it…

Top Dishes:

  • Slut - Cage-free coddled egg on top of a smooth potato purée, poached in a glass jar, topped with gray salt and chives, served with slices of baguette
  • Fairfax - Cage-free soft scrambled eggs and chives, cheddar cheese, caramelised onions and sriracha mayo in a warm brioche bun
  • Gaucho - seared wagyu tri-tip steak, cage-free over medium egg, chimichurri, red onions and dressed arugula in a warm brioche bun

Waka City

A contemporary fusion of Japanese & Peruvian cuisine, brought to you for the first time as food-to-go, serving ceviche, sushi and sashimi. The restaurant has newly opened in White City and already has plans to head to the City. Waka menu features a variety of low-cost Nikkei dishes, such as a hot chicken teriyaki rice bowl with Peruvian purple potato.

Bank House Wine Bar and Kitchen

Once the Chef and eventually CEO of Gordon Ramsay’s restaurants, Stuart Gillies is now going it alone and opening his own place. A wine bar that’s situated in a Victorian building, on Chislehurst High Street, will sit across two floors – the ground floor going for a casual approach, whilst the upstairs has a little more of a cocktail bar vibe. We are eagerly awaiting the updates on what the menu looks like, but for now all we know is it will consist of European small plates, with a daily changing seasonal menu.

Bafarat

Bafarat coffee company is opening its first international cafe on Soho’s Warwick Street this month, serving patisseries, teas and coffee including an Arabic blend spiced with saffron and cardamom. The group has hired Thomas Alphonsine, a classically-trained French pastry chef and as part of the offering they’ll have a dessert bar alongside a ‘’five-course interactive dessert tasting menu’’. So, if you find yourself in Soho and craving something sweet, you know where to go!

Plu

Plu, a new contemporary fine-dining French micro-restaurant, is opening this month headed up by Elliot Moss. Situated in St John’s Wood, the new restaurant is set to serve a 12 course, seasonally changing tasting menu, whilst we are told to expect ‘English food, with a French accent’. The restaurant seats just 22, as well as a terrace outside for pre-dinner cocktails. Whilst we don’t know too many details, their Instagram account showcases some beautifully presented plates which we cannot wait to try!
