London’s Best Afternoon Tea for Mother’s Day

It’s the one day a year we dedicate to our mums so of course we must try to make it special. Fortunately for you we know one way you can, and it involves lots of cake and prosecco! With amazing views and captivating decors, Afternoon Tea can be so much more than scones in London. So, check out our list of top Afternoon Tea spots to give your mum a memorable Mother’s Day.

Dalloway Terrace

Do you remember 2016 Great British Bake-Off winner Candice Brown? Well she has collaborated with Dalloway Terrace to bring together Winter Afternoon Tea.  She has created an elegant and delicious selection to accompany the décor and atmosphere at Dalloway Terrace. There is the choice of Spiced Orange and Cranberry Scones and Brie and onion caramelised onion tart accompanied by tea or a glass of prosecco. Dalloway Terrace is also a great place to get some memorable snaps of you and your mum with their poetic, Narnia style interior. If you’re looking for a magical Afternoon Tea experience, this is the place to go!

If your mum has a serious sweet tooth, then Butterscotch is your ideal Afternoon Tea destination. Butterscotch started as online bakery, so you can expect that all their sweet treats will be delicious especially with White Chocolate Blondies and Mother’s Day Floral cupcakes on the menu. Afternoon Tea “rules” can be broken at Butterscotch by enjoying your scones in the evening alongside prosecco and Bourbon cocktails.

Fancy something different to a traditional British Afternoon Tea? If you are looking to steer away from classic finger sandwiches and scones, then 100% head to Jason Atherston’s Sosharu for a Japanese twist. For your savoury selection you can enjoy Tuna or Salmon Temaki which has been described as a Japanese taco, for your sweet selection there are a choice of four mini cakes including a moreish chocolate petit gateau.  This of course will be accompanied with Japanese tea or if you want to pay a little extra for your mum (of course you do), a sparkling cocktail.

The Luggage Room

The best present you could give your mum on Mother’s Day is a little fun and adventure, perhaps by heading back in time to the roaring twenties for some Low Tea at The Luggage Room? This hidden bar and tea lounge sits underneath the Marriot Hotel where to gain entry you must knock three times on a black door to then be greeted by a Maître d’! Here you can enjoy delicious Low Tea, (which comes from the idea of relaxing at home, on low seating) in a comfortable atmosphere with vintage décor. Sounds like a Mother’s Day to remember!

OXO Tower Wharf

If you’re looking for a classically British Afternoon Tea accompanied by an amazing view of the Thames and the City of London, then this is where you and mum should be heading. The menu consists of Severn & Wye smoked salmon with dill crème fraîche on black rye bread, mini Yorkshire puddings filled with braised beef and horseradish cream, freshly-baked scones with heaps of jam, and home grown British tea. What’s a better way to say, “I love you mum”?
