Low Key Valentine’s Day Recipe

Valentine’s Day is a great excuse to go out to a new restaurant with your partner to indulge in a five-course meal and several bottles of wine. However, we know with the weather being cold and money being on your mind, the idea of snuggling on a sofa sounds way more inviting.  If that’s the case, you’re in luck! We’ve asked the Alexandrie team in Kensington to share a recipe to cook for a low-key Valentine’s Day. Who knows, it may be the start of a brand new career as a chef?!

The Fish Trio Recipe:

You will need prawns, squid, and a fish of meaty texture like grouper in 3 equal proportions.

What to do:

  • Chop the squid, prawns, and fish and afterwards coat them in flour
  • Add salt, pepper, a sprinkle of powdered cumin, sweet vinegar and lemon
  • Crisp fry

In the meantime, whilst you have a glass of wine, your partner can help you:

  • Thinly chop 1 large onion and 1-2 garlic cloves
  • Dice-chop 1 green pepper and either 3-4 small tomatoes or 1 large tomato (without the seeds in the latter case)
  • Chop the leaves of 1-2 parsley stems
  • Heat 1 tablespoon of oil (corn or sunflower) and stir fry the onion and garlic until yellowish
  • Add the peppers, tomatoes, and parsley and fry until they start to soften
  • Add the fried fish your partner has prepared

If you want to spice things up, chop a jalapeño and add it to the mix at the same time as the fish.

The proportion of the seafood should be about three times the amount of the mix of green peppers.
