Born in Weymouth, Dorset, Lewis started his career working in a family run local restaurant. With a focus on using great local produce, this proved to be the inspiration for a career in hospitality. Having worked at HIX Mayfair at Browns Hotel for three years, he then enjoyed a stint at Le Caprice in St James, before returning to Brown’s Hotel for a further three years. Lewis then moved to Petersham Nurseries Richmond as Sous Chef, cooking simple, seasonal Italian food in their internationally renowned glasshouse restaurant. Following three years at Petersham Nurseries Café in leafy Richmond, Lewis moved across to Petersham Nurseries’ new outpost in Covent Garden, becoming Head Chef of La Goccia. Overseeing the launch of this new restaurant in the heart of central London, Lewis now runs a busy kitchen serving lunch and dinner, with breakfast at the weekend. Serving small, sharing plates from the open kitchen, wood fired oven and large grill, the emphasis on seasonality is key to the extensive menu that changes regularly. Focusing on simple, fresh and light flavours, Lewis enjoys working closely with valued producers to source the finest ingredients.
