It’s the one day of the year when it’s all about mum so why not make it special by organising a treat for her. Whether you’re looking for a casual lunch in a gastropub or something a bit more extravagant than that, we’ve got some great suggestions to help you plan the perfect day.
With a number of beautiful rooms to choose from, Bourne & Hollingsworth offer a sophisticated yet relaxed atmosphere to celebrate Mother’s Day. The brunch menu is extensive with everything from typical breakfast staples like eggs and bacon to the more adventurous fried duck egg or poached served with a cauliflower and broccoli crispy potato hash. And of course no brunch is complete without a cocktail of some sort, we love the sound of Jammin’, Rathbone New London Dry Gin shaken with Aperol, citrus and strawberry jam.
Don’t you just love the name of this gorgeous pub! The Lady Ottoline has some special treats in stall for mums come Sunday 6 March including a stunning Sunday roast menu which includes slow roast rump of Cumbrian beef served with roast potatoes, seasonal veg, homemade Yorkshire puddings and gravy. And of course you’ll just have to dive into their range of over 60 gins, it would be rude not to! The cherry on the top has to be the mini bouquet of posies they’ve arranged for every mum dining with them on Mother’s Day.
Settling into an afternoon of French elegance at the gorgeous Les Deux Salons and enjoy a three course meal and 375ml of Besserat de Bellefon Brut NV champagne.
It doesn’t get any more flamboyant and pink than this! Treat mum to an afternoon tea to remember at the artistic Sketch. Available all weekend, Mother’s Day Afternoon Tea includes all the usual sweet and savoury treats as well as a Dyptique scented candle and a glass of Moussé Fils rosé Champagne (or the whole bottle if you’re in the mood).
If your mum appreciated a good pub lunch The Grazing Goat is the place for you. Although this is a pub, it definitely sits on the gastro side of the pub world, serving up scrumptious Sunday roasts with an impressive wine list to select from. In the heart of the city you may even be able to fit in a spot of shopping with mum before or after.
As always, London’s restaurants, gastropubs and hotels will be extremely busy over Mother’s Day weekend and we often receive requests from our clients for some temporary chef job cover. If you are interested in a temporary chef job shift please do get in touch and we’ll let you know if anything comes up.
