Best pubs to watch the Rugby World Cup

We’ve loved the vibe in London during the Rugby World Cup. As with any sporting event that hits the Capital, everyone seems to become completely immersed in the atmosphere and really celebrates the sport in question.

But the thing that makes rugby different from any other sport is the comradery that it encourages. For the 80 minutes during the game, there is always healthy competition between the two teams and amongst the spectators. There is no denying it is an extremely physical sport which entails a number of hard hits and often results in some bruised bodies. But once the final whistle goes, all walls of competitiveness seem to come down as fans from both teams unite to celebrate the game, often in the pub!

So if you want to get involved in the spirit of rugby, here is a list of some our tops picks of where to catch the action and perhaps enjoy a pint or two:

The Boaters, Kingston
A lovely pub in Kingston upon Thames which is right on the river and is a great spot to watch the game.

The Admiral Nelson
A cool place in Whitton which is great for a drink before heading down to Twickers, or just to watch on the game on TV.

The Globe
A great little pub in Brentford West London which has lots of large screens and a projector. The landlord is an avid rugby fan and the staff are very friendly.

The Cabbage Patch
The classic Twickenham pub which is always very very busy on game days, especially before and after the match, but you really can’t beat this atmosphere.

The Ship
A huge pub in Wandsworth, right on the river. Always busy with local punters including the made in Chelsea crew.
