Dads are the best and that’s why we’ve come up with some really great ways to celebrate this Father’s Day. Of course you could always take your dad down to his local and buy him a few pints but we thought you might want to push the boat out a bit by doing something completely different this year!
We love everything about the Great British Gentleman’s Afternoon Tea at the Mandeville Hotel from the sparling cocktails to start to the fancies, scones and savouries offered on the menu. Don’t miss the After 8 Meringue Chocolate, Steak Sandwich with snails and of course the good old classic scones with jam and clotted cream. For only £26.50 per person we think this is quite a steal, especially as you’ll have some of the finest in chef jobs cooking up these treats for you!
With Queens and Wimbledon just around the corner serve an ace for the old man and take him to Bounce for a competitive game of ping pong. If you haven’t been before, Bounce offers a casual environment to get the paddles out while enjoying some much deserved beers served by their wonderful bar staff. They also have a few different menus to choose from, one being the scrummy Bar Menu which includes pizzas with exciting toppings such as Pulled pork, buffalo mozzarella with sunblushed tomatoes and crispy speck or Kashmiri chicken, paneer cheese, toasted almonds, red onion, candied beetroot and coriander… mmmm!
Nothing says “I love you dad” like a big juicy steak, of course if your father is a vegetarian please ignore us and skip further down the page. There are far too many amazing steak restaurants in London for us to mention them all so we’re going to focus on the newly opened and absolutely fabulous, Hanger SW6. As the name suggests, the Butcher’s cut is hanger steak which you can expect to be served several ways. Wash this down with a Perfect Storm cocktail – think Old Fashioned with a rum and ginger twist. Did we mention that the steak is really affordable too with some cuts costing as little as a tenner!
Gone are the days where you’d be mocked for having a moustache or encouraged to shave your beard, oh no – facial hair has well and truly made a comeback! And thanks to this newly found respect for male stubble, London is full of grooming salons where men can (without shame) indulge in a bit of metrosexual pampering. If this sounds like something your pa would enjoy, why not take him to Murdock for a shave accompanied by an ice cold beer or whiskey.
And as you enjoy celebrating Father’s Day spare a thought to all those in London hospitality jobs who’ll be hard at work to make your experience as special as possible. We’d like to wish all the dads out there a very happy day, whether you’re working or not, we hope you get spoilt!
